Streaming Services
Here’s something a little different for this email newsletter about DC music. Did you know that there are free streaming video services that you can access through your public library? Kanopy is the more polished service, and your DC Public Library card gives you 10 credits a month. Even if you don’t live inside the city limits, the DC Library will give you a card in any nearby jurisdiction. The other free video service is called Hoopla, and the Montgomery County Public Library in MD gets you access to it.
A brilliant, heartwarming new film to catch on either of these services is Pinball: The Man Who Saved The Game, directed by The Bragg Brothers, Austin and Meredith. Meredith Bragg was a musician and videographer here in DC, creating music videos for Beauty Pill and The Caribbean. And if you haven’t yet caught the 2021 documentary Punk The Capital by Paul Bishow and James June Schneider, Kanopy will you show you everything you need to know about Bad Brains and Minor Threat.
