Indie synthpop band Mystery Friends are revving up to release their new album Utopia in early 2024, and they’ve booked The Atlantis on Friday January 26th to let finally roam free in the world. The album’s new single “Fever Dream” just got this surreal music video from director Sam Casscells, in which a horde of scarily masked “mystery friends” descend upon 7DrumCity’s intimate venue The Pocket. Wouldn’t it be great if this show sold out in advance? Let’s help make it happen.

Francophone jazz band Veronneau are always great, but perhaps at their most wonderful playing holiday music. Blues Alley has them for two sets Tuesday night, 7 and 9 PM.
Wednesday December 13th
Brad Linde’s 17-piece Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra rides again at DC’s newest jazz venue The Carlyle Room this Wednesday evening.
Thursday December 14th
Rising rock stars Blunda (pronounced Bl - oo - nda) headline the Pie Shop on Thursday night with Kenny Pirog’s blues/surf rock band Wanted Man and Brooklyn’s Added Color.
Friday December 15th
DC9’s Friday night headliner is Dorinda, fronted by Spring Silver bassist Reid Williams. The supportng acts are Argo & The Violent Queens and Dyeboy, who wrote this about their catchy new pay-what-you-want album A Dying: “This album works at Hot Topic. This album went to Warped Tour. This album wears pyjama pants in public. The electronic elements and vocal features work to solidify that vibe. This is fight your stepdad music.”
Bonus! Reunited early-00s experimental punk band Black Eyes are back headlining at the Black Cat Friday night, with avant-garde jazz band Irreversible Entanglements and the unclassifiable Clear Channel.
Saturday December 16th
Songbyrd’s Saturday night all-DMV lineup features mellow indie-rock band The Meer, emo-punks Company Calls, and alt-rocker Lindsay Collette.
Sunday December 17th
Matinee all ages punk show at the Public Option on Sunday! Domestic Terror Presents: Seikilos (va metal), Taunt (dc fast/heavy something-core), Greenhead (dc stonercore) & Polluted Tongues (baltimore hardcore).
