DC punk lifer Justin William Moyer’s taut and dancey group Light Beams are back with a brand new album called Wild Life that drops November 3rd as a split release between Moyer’s own Mud Memory Records and Dischord. The original trio that featured bassist Arthur Noll and drummer Sam Lavine have expanded to include BRNDA’s Leah Gage and Erin McCarley of Faunas. Georgetown’s Blues Alley continues their series of embassy partnerships celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with two sets Wednesday night pairing Brazilian 7-string choro master Rogério Souza and DC electric guitarist John Lee.
Thursday October 5th
DC band Dear Spring celebrates the release of their new post-pop-punk single “DONTLETMEIN” courtesy Richmond label Open Your Ears Records this Thursday night at The Runaway, joined by Wammie-winning bubble-grungers Flowerbomb and Peak Bloom.
Saturday October 7th
If indie rock gives you life, The Pocket will make you feel young again Saturday night with DC bands Cherub Tree and Makeup Girl, plus Richmond’s Roughshod and a set from Ekko Astral guitarist Sam Elmore.
Sunday October 8th
Returning from a long pandemic hiatus, trombonist Dave Sager’s Pie in the Sky Band brings their 1920’s style jazz to Silver Spring’s Rosensteel Hall for a matinee show Sunday afternoon. Card carrying members of the Potomac River Jazz Club get a discount on tickets.
