Thursday December 7th
Scream and Soulside are two hardcore bands on the Dischord label that have not only reunited in recent years, but also released full length albums of excellent new songs. Their co-headlining tour lands back home Thursday night at the Black Cat, and punk/jazz/hip-hop act XK Scenario opens.
Friday December 8th
Friday night DC punk organizers Positive Force team up with Subsist-Stance to host another in DC’s long tradition of punk shows benefiting worthy causes. This time the proceeds help out Palestine’s Children Relief Fund while you rock out with DC bands Rise Defy, PsyOp, and Palladists at St. Stephen’s Church, plus a bunch more bands from Baltimore and further afield, DJ sets from Leon City Sounds, and more.
If a thoughtful night of jazz is more your speed to wrap up a busy work week, check out saxophonist Elijah Jamal Balbed, leader of the JoGo Project, playing a special set at the Kennedy Center’s new River Pavilion at the REACH.
Saturday December 9th
Classic go-go group Junkyard Band crank the style up Saturday night at Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club, with opening act Westmob Band (fka Mass Extinction).
