We had a blast catching skronky jazz group ¡FIASCO! at Fort Reno last month. Experimental DIY hotspot Rhizome in Takoma Park hosts the 4 piece ensemble Monday night along with guitarist Nelson Dougherty’s collaboration with saxophonist Tyler Cassidy.

It Wants, self-described as “post-ironic blackened shoegrunge”, and DC punk band little a provide hometown hospitality at Silver Spring’s Quarry House Tavern Tuesday night for Orlando alt-metal band Flagman.

Grammy-nominated soul singer Wayna has graced many prestigious stages and collaborated with Stevie Wonder. In advance of her new album The Housewives of Zamunda coming this fall, Wayna plays two sets at Georgetown’s Blues Alley Wednesday evening.
Thursday August 17th
Fresh new jazz vibes fill the Pocket Thursday night with the Noah Pierre Band, fresh off releasing their debut album Frames, along with Austin Loman and Attic Sessions.
Friday August 18th
Shout-outs to the other album DMV release shows this night to Public Figures and Sex Faces, but we gotta give the Friday night crown to indomitable pop singer Cat Janice and her debut full length release Modern Medicine. Celebrate in glam style along with So Fetch’s Cathy DiToro and Massie (fka Grady).

Nominated for a Grammy award for his contribution to the Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack, rapper Beau Young Prince presents “Groovy Baby 3” at Union Stage Saturday night with a huge supporting crew that includes Chaz French, Innanet James, Lord Francis and more.
Sunday August 20th
As we mentioned last week, the Rock & Roll Brunch’s day long Risers Fest takes over Hook Hall Sunday with a music lineup that features Nicole Yun, Ammonite, Anthony Pirog, Same Heads and a lot more.
