The Podcast
First up, the delightful and diligent jazz organizer Amy K. Bormet joined Paul on our podcast to preview the upcoming Washington Women in Jazz Festival spreading throughout the city in March. On Sunday March 5th at Eaton Workshop, Bormet also launches a new print magazine called The Turnaround. There is a lot to cover, so grab the episode wherever you get your podcasts.

Don’t Stay Home This Week

Professor Goldstein, indie rock band and hosts of the DIY venue / YouTube channel The Classroom, kick off a great Tuesday night for music at Quarry House Tavern in Silver Spring with DC/Philly emo band Magazine Beach and Chicago’s Arcadia Grey.
Wednesday February 22nd
I think we’ve recommended every night of Grady’s February residency at DC9 so far, so why stop now. This Wednesday is your last chance for $5 on a weeknight to catch this rock band on the rise with excellent taste in openers: Rex Pax (fka Space Phase) and Outerloop.
Thursday February 23rd
It’s back to Silver Spring and Quarry House Tavern on Thursday night for chamber-folk and instrumental post-rock atmospheres from DC’s Sansyou and Teething Veils leading up to NYC’s The Royal Arctic Institute.
Friday February 24th
Andrew Grossman and his experimental pop band full of DC expats The North Country will be tour tight when they wrap up an east coast jaunt at Songbyrd Friday night with sweater-wearing indie rock band You and Me and You. Catch a preview with this “digital house show” from Columbia SC’s At the Addition.
Saturday February 25th
Perhaps you’ve not yet been to Lost Origins Gallery in Mt. Pleasant, towering above a delicious evening of Martha Dear pizza and Mt. Desert Island ice cream. Introduce yourself to this amazing arts space Saturday night with some weirdo live rock music from Pearie Sol, Cryptid Summer, and Sensor Ghost.
Sunday February 26th
Veteran DC rapper KingPen Slim showcases his Rich Friends initiative at Songbyrd Sunday night with guest spots from Ankhlejohn, DB Bantino, Look! Damien, Sincerest Don, Cel Marie, Farrah Flosscet and more.
