DC Music Video
As Cinema Hearts, Caroline Weinroth’s style of channeling feminist themes with catchy doo-wop vibes continues to win fans and gain renown. The new single “Fender Factory”, from the upcoming EP I Want You, is the subject of this feature in Flood Magazine, and has even landed on the “Songs You Need to Know” playlist from Rolling Stone. The enthusiastic kids of Girls Rock DC back up Weinroth in the short and sweet music video from director Mitchell Worley. Don’t miss Cinema Hearts close out the Fort Reno season on their rescheduled date of August 7th.
Don’t Stay Home This Week
Monday July 31st
Yes it’s been as hot as the naked sun lately, but we predict a gorgeous night at Fort Reno on Monday for indie rock by Continuals, experimental jazz from ¡FIASCO!, and insanely genius instrumental math-rock from The Messthetics. Fingers crossed that postcards and posters of that sweet flyer designed by Ryan Carroll Nelson will be available!
Tuesday August 1st
College Park rock band Unity for the Outcasts and garage punk band Fleabath open for NY band The Big Easy at Quarry House Tavern Tuesday evening.
Wednesday August 2nd
Good people of DC, this is your last chance of the season to attend a free rooftop show at the MLK Library from the fine scholars of the DC Punk Archive. Wednesday’s bill features Dischord vets Hammered Hulls, Jenny Hates Techno and Emotional World. The free music starts at 6:30.
Thursday August 3rd
This flyer for Thursday’s Fort Reno show featuring Sensor Ghost, Sam Ray aka Ricky Eat Acid of Teen Suicide, and Des Demonas, was made on actual cake for the Night of 1000 Cakes, and then of course eaten. So meta. No longer the last show of the season!
Friday August 4th
We are delighted to direct your attention to DC9’s Friday night lineup of DC garage pop band Cal Rifkin, Praibr Trio from Richmond, and the assured indie pop songwriting of veterans Washington Social Club. I mean, just listen to this promo flyer in song form from Martin Royle.
Saturday August 5th
Jackie & The Treehorns, named after the character in The Big Lebowski, have crafted thoughtful and groovy indie rock since the late aughts. Catch them headlining Silver Spring’s Quarry House Tavern Saturday night in an all-DMV bill with Black Rails and The Moonbugs.
Sunday August 6th
This four band bill at the Pie Shop Sunday night contains NY touring act Kipani along with DMV acts Soul Meets Body, Milo in the Doldrums, and Caro, and all the delicious sweet and savory pie that you can eat.
See You Soon
