The Washington CityPaper’s Christina Smart visits Eric Hilton, half of the downtempo pioneers Thievery Corporation, as he settles into a new studio in Georgetown and cranks out new records at a brisk pace. His newest full length Midnight Ragas just dropped last month.
Jada Ingleton at The Washington Informer previews R&B on the Water, a three part live music series at Navy Yard Waterfront. The remaining two installments on July 27 and Sept. 14 feature Too Much Talent Band and an All White Summer Finale.

Unknown Artist is actually their band name. What a punk flex! They take the sunset slot at Fort Reno Monday night along with indie pop from The Flip Phones and midwest emo-flavored Doll Apartments.
Tuesday July 15th
Nice Breeze’s Bandcamp bio describes them as “abstract punk poets”, while punk band Shadow Riot is fronted by Iranian-born songwriter and poet Kamyar Arsani. They hold down the fort for quirky Swiss band Leopardo Tuesday night at Quarry House Tavern.

Wednesday July 16th
Keep your bra on after work Wednesday night and head to Quarry House Tavern (snaps for their on-point music lineup all this week) for 3 excellent bands not fronted by men. The comedy style of Griefcat and the psychedelic grunge-punk of Endlings provide the DC flavor to go with Nashville indie rock band Mel Bryant & The Mercy Makers.
Thursday July 17th
Do you know what a 504 Plan is? Hint: all the members of punk band 504 Plan have one. They’re joined by Latin-indie-rockers Zipa and electronic synth wizards Atoms Apart Thursday night at Fort Reno.

Dance-punk band Light Beams has new music coming out this summer courtesy of Dischord and Lovitt, two storied DC record labels.
