Happy New Year’s weekend DC music friends. We’ve got a quick roundup of live music for the big end of year festivities before 2024 gets its hands on us. Let’s go!
Don’t Stay Home This Weekend
unless you are under the weather like we are, then please stay home
(it’s just a cold, no big deal)
Friday December 29th
Don your rudeboy apparel and join the ska faithful Friday night at the 9:30 Club when The Pietasters host their annual end of year show, welcoming NJ acts Crazy & The Brains and Sammy Kay and DJ Selah spinning between sets.
Rocking out to punk bands AND benefitting Martha’s Table, The Runaway’s Friday night has DC bands Fixed Bias and The Sniffs, and dream-pop princess Ari Voxx. Don’t forget your ATM card, becaue The Runaway is fully cash-only now.
Saturday December 30th
The all-female DC band Bela Dona, channeling R&B, jazz, gospel, hip-hop, and of course go-go, cross the river and grace the venerable stage of the Birchmere Saturday night.
Sunday December 31st
Indie soul band Oh He Dead, one of DC’s finest live acts, return from touring the west coast to headline Union Stage for New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and they’re teaming up with go-go legends Mambo Sauce to ring in 2024. Honestly, we kinda can’t believe you can still get tickets to this.
Be Safe, Tip Your Bartenders, Don’t Drink & Drive, etc.
We’ll be back Tuesday with our full roundup of DC music news, videos, new releases, and show picks. Let us know what you’d like to see covered here, and let your friends know that they’re missing out on some great music.
